Bartolomeo Montagna

Bartolomeo Montagna (c. 1450 Orzinuovi at Brescia, † October 11, 1523 in Vicenza ) was an important time for his Italian painter of the Renaissance.

Montagna was brought up in Venice and worked in Vicenza. He was probably at Domenico Morone in Verona in teaching. He is first mentioned in 1480 and 1482 received the order next to Gentile Bellini and Giovanni Bellini for the Scuola Grande di San Marco Photos from Genesis and the Flood to paint (they were a few years later destroyed by fire ). His early paintings show the influence of Alvise Vivarini and painted in Venice photos by Antonello da Messina.

His son Benedetto Mantegna (1480 bis 155/1558 ) supported him ( for example, in the frescoes of the Palazzo Gualdo in Vicenza, which are not preserved) and is ( although some paintings are preserved) known for etchings and drawings.

Some students show him as the founder of a school of painting in Vicenza (Giovanni Buonconsiglio ( Marescalco ), Francesco da Ponte the Elder, Luca Buscatti, Giovanni Speranza, Francesco Verla ).
