Bartolomeo Tromboncino

Bartolomeo Tromboncino (* 1470 in Verona, † after 1535 in Venice) was an Italian composer of the Renaissance.

Life

About Tromboncinos life there are only a few certificates. His father, Bernardino Pifaro, was a musician in Venice and Mantua. He lived from 1487 to 1495 in Mantua at the court of the Gonzaga family, as there Isabella d'Este gathered around himself as patron of eminent writers and artists. After living in Vicenza and in Casale he is from 1501 to 1512 again in Mantua detectable. Subsequently, he was also in the service of the Medici in Florence. His last place of residence was Venice, where he died after 1535.

Work and works

Tromboncino was one of the most important masters of Frottole that he ( three and four voices, acting unanimously, with sounds or organ accompaniment ) composed in large numbers.
