Bartolommeo Genga

Bartolommeo Genga (* 1516 or 1518 in Cesena, † July 1558 ) was an Italian painter and architect.

Life

Genga was the pupil of his father Girolamo Genga, went to further education in 1538 to Florence, then to Rome, was overseer of the government buildings of the Duchy of Urbino and completed as such the begun by his father, San Giovanni church and the palace at Pesaro.

He was particularly known as a military architect; he was appointed to Malta, to secure it against the attacks of the Turks. Genga died 1558th
