Baruch ben Neriah

Baruch, son of Neriah is a person referred to in the Hebrew part of the Bible. He is mentioned several times as a scribe of the prophet Jeremiah and brother of Seraiah, the quartermaster of Zedekiah ( Jer 32:12 EU, EU 36.4-32; 43.1 to 6 EU; 45.1 f EU).

Seal of a scribe Baruch were found during excavations in Jerusalem, and in 1996 presented to the public. The text of the label reads: " possession of Berekhyahu / son of Neriyahu / the writer ." Part of a private collection in England is a clay seals, which not only Baruch's name, but also his fingerprint.

Also the seal of Seraiah ( " possession of Seriahu / Neriyah ") was found. The name of the brother Seraiah is repeatedly mentioned in the Book of Jeremiah ( Jer 51.59 to 64 EU).
