The Barva Volcano is located a few kilometers from the capital of Costa Rica, San José, removed. Three conspicuous peaks give the volcano also the name of Las Tres Marias. The deposits of the mighty Tiribi Tuffs created by an eruption 322,000 years ago, in which the central caldera of the volcano was formed. In the caldera with a diameter of 2 kilometers, forming four volcanic cones. Several cinder cones are located on the northern and southern flank of the volcano. The only dated by the method of Tephrochronologie eruption was 6050 BC ± 1000 years instead.
