Basaltic andesite

Basaltandesit ( basaltic andesite also ) is a volcanic rock of the family of andesites.

Composition

In the black matrix there are visible crystals of plagioclase, olivine and augite. In the TAS diagram, it is located in the box O1, and, with a share of 52-57 wt % SiO 2 to the intermediate rocks.

  • Hegau or at Thunder Mountain in Germany
  • Volcán de Agua in Guatemala
  • Mount Shasta, Three Sisters in the Cascade Mountains on the west coast of the U.S.
  • Deccan Traps in India
