Basarbovo Monastery

The Basarbowski Monastery ( Bulgarian Басарбовски манастир ), actually Monastery of St. Dimitar Basarbowski, is a Bulgarian Orthodox cave monastery near the city of Ruse in northeastern Bulgaria. It bears the same name as the nearby village Basarbowo. It's just taken a rock monastery located at an altitude of about 35 meters above sea level. At the foot of the monastery the Russenski Lom flows towards the north to the Danube. The oldest written reference dates from the 15th century. Here, the monastery is mentioned in an Ottoman tax registers.
