Basel Tattoo

The Basel Tattoo is a music show that takes place in the city of Basel since 2006 for nine days each July in Switzerland. It is similar in content to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and after him the second biggest tattoo event in the world. The Basel Tattoo is under the patronage of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport ( DDPS).

Program

The Basel Tattoo is in each case in the court of the Kaserne Basel performed in Klein-Basel with over 1000 participants. The event is annually visited by 120,000 viewers and is sold out since the beginning.

The program changes every year and is presented by international bands, bands and dance troupes. Components of the program are performances by the Massed Pipes and Drums, the united pipers from around the world.

History

The Basel Tattoo was first initiated in 2006 by the Basel Top Secret Drum Corps, after the Corps had previously attended one year at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. In this open-air concert was in 2004 and 2005, the Yshalle tattoo as event hall in Basel's St. Jakob Ice Arena instead.

To celebrate the fifth implementation of the Basel Tattoo, in July 2010, held a variety of traditional Swiss melodies way into the show, so even with the two historical records: The first act of traditional Désalpe was celebrated, the second historic act the Basler Fasnacht was the Morgestraich presented by twelve Basler Fasnacht cliques. The Basel Tattoo 2011 was marked by royal guards and an exotic band from Japan. In July 2012, bands were represented from five different continents, including two from Russia.

Additional events

Since 2008, the so-called Basel Tattoo Parade takes place at the approximately 2000 participants march through the old town of Basel from Munster Square to the barracks. About 140,000 spectators watch the colorful spectacle of music each year. Around the barracks area are located in the " Street Tattoo " at the time of the tattoo numerous " hard pickling " and food stalls that are run by various Basler Fasnacht Basel cliques and other clubs.

Since at least 2009 also, an annual parade of the Basel Tattoo place in Freiburg im Breisgau. More than 20,000 spectators, the formations pull through the old town and give a subsequent Mini Tattoo, a so-called final concert, which took place in 2012 on the Stühlinger church square.

The Basel Tattoo In Concert is a gala concert, which takes place a week before the Basel Tattoo since 2009. It is carried out in different places, 2011 and 2012 at the Culture and Convention Centre Lucerne. There are always three bands of the Basel Tattoo represented.

Basel Tattoo Productions GmbH

The Basel Tattoo is organized by event company Basel Tattoo Productions GmbH. Producer of the event is Erik Julliard. For the smooth running of the event provide around 500 voluntary helpers. The sister company Berlin Tattoo Productions GmbH organized since 2011, the Berlin Tattoo, which takes place in the multi-purpose indoor arena O2 World Berlin and is presented by the German Armed Forces Association.
