Basic People's Congress (political)

The Basic People's Congress (Arabic المؤتمر الشعبي الأساسي ) was the smallest unit of the system of government in Libya under the dictatorship of Muammar al - Gaddafi.

Usually it regulates the equivalent of a community ( the geographical administrative unit was in Libya called base - People's Congress). The Congress consisted of all adult men and women.

The actual conference was held in three scheduled meetings per year or as necessary. The first meeting was usually devoted to a detailed agenda for the next two sessions. In the second session of the basic People's Congress were discussed questions of the local economy, while in the third session, the seats were determined by the committees and discussed the elected representatives of the policy at national and international level.

The next highest political level were the district conventions and then think about the General People's Congress at the top.
