Basildon

Basildon is a town in the same district in Essex in the East of England. It is located around 40 km north-east of London.

History

Basildon has already been mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book as Behoter. Close to the resort, in the Billericay 's Norsey Woods, defeated King Richard II, the fighters of the peasant revolt of 1381 on 28 June, final. In 1620 Billericay is also gathered the Pilgrims before their departure to the New World. 1855 received the community Pitsea a railway connection, in 1888 the stations were built in Laindon and Wickford Railway. 1949 Basildon was awarded the status of a " New Town ", that is, it was a planned city promoted with the aim to facilitate the settlement mainly of Londoners. This New Town was created from the old community Basildon and the smaller communities Pitsea, Laindon and Vange.

1964 Ford built a tractor factory in the city. 1971 opened a branch of Marks and Spencer.
