Saint Lawrence outside the Walls (Latin basilica Sancti Laurentii extra muros, Italian San Lorenzo fuori le mura, also: San Lorenzo al Verano, also known as the venerable basilica) is a church in Rome. She's papal basilica minor, and one of the seven pilgrim churches of Rome. It is dedicated to St. Lawrence, and was originally built according to tradition, by the Emperor Constantine. Furthermore, it is the station church of the 3rd Sunday of Lent.

History

451, with the Council of Chalcedon, it was the Patriarchal Basilica of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, which is the church of the Patriarch, if it dwells in Rome to the Holy See, and thus one of the main churches of Christendom. Equipment

Under a canopy to the altar of a shrine containing the relics of Saints Lawrence and Stephen. Beyond lie the sarcophagus of Pope Pius IX. and the relics of all who have been beatified or canonized under whose pontificate.

The organ was built in 1958 by the organ builder Fratelli Ruffatti. The instrument has 35 stops on two manuals and pedal. The tracker action are electric.
