Basilinna

The Basilinna ( Βασιλίννα; German queen) was the wife of the Athenian archon basileus.

She had to Athenian citizen and at the marriage of his virgin (which, however, does not have to relate to the marriage with the Emperor, which is the case of Phano proves who was married in second marriage with the Emperor ). One of their sacred task were secret rites in the cult of Dionysus, during which she was given symbolically to Dionysus to wife ( sacred marriage ). Most importantly, however, was their structural role as Queen of the already ancient Dionysus.
