Basilisk II

Basilisk II is a free 680x0 Macintosh emulator that runs on a variety of operating systems, including BeOS, Linux, AmigaOS, Windows NT, and Mac OS X. The current version runs on Mac OS X for PowerPC and Intel processors.

Basilisk II only supports versions of Mac OS that run on 68K Macs, as the newest version so Mac OS 8.1. Newer versions require a PowerPC processor, which is not emulated by Basilisk II.

Macintoshes with PowerPC processors can be emulated with SheepShaver or PearPC.

Since 2006, there was the part of the project, not an official publication more, the emulator but developed until 2008, since then only bugfixes were entered into the code base. The current source code is available from the CVS repository of this project, by a third party builds are compiled and offered at irregular intervals.
