Basilius Petritz

Basil Petritz ( baptized on 20 May 1647 Great Grove, † September 6, 1715 in Dresden) was from 1694 to 1713 Kreuzkantor in Dresden.

Petritz was from 1661 to 1671 was a student at the St. Thomas School in Leipzig and then studied at the University of Leipzig. He was the successor of the later Thomas cantor Johann Schelle as a cantor in a hurry castle where he had a formative influence on the young Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow. The day after his presentation on July 21, 1694 Council of the City of Dresden created his appointment certificate. About the tenure Petritz ' no news is received. Apparently he was ailing in his later years, as his future successor Johann Zacharias Grundig took over increasingly his duties to him, were apart from the teaching profession, officially transferred by the Council in December 1713, while Petritz with two -thirds of his income was allowed to stay in the Kantoratswohnung. Petritz died in 1715 in Dresden and was buried on the second Anne Cemetery.

One of Petritz ' sons served as cantor at St. Anne's Church.
