Basimah Yusuf Butrus

Basimah Yusuf Butrus (also Basima Yousif Putros ) (* 1963 in Arbil, Iraq) is a professor and politician.

She studied biochemistry at the University of Saladdin, Iraq. She then pursued a career in science. She was Minister for Science and Technology in the Iraqi transitional cabinet in which she was the only Christian From May 2005 to 2006. It belongs to the Chaldean Catholic Church and is involved in the Assyrisisch Democratic Movement. She is also active as a human rights activist and member of the Catholic charity Caritas.
