Basketball at the 1904 Summer Olympics
In the III. Olympics 1904 in St. Louis, a competition was held in basketball. Whether the tournament had Olympic status is disputed. It was advertised as "Olympic World 's Basket Ball Championships " ( Olympic Basketball World Cup), but were only American teams. Moreover basketball then held sway only in the U.S. and was very probably played in any other country. It was played in the infield of the stadium Francis Field and in the adjacent gym.
Date: 11th and July 12th, 1904
It was attended by six teams that began six to eight players. The Buffalo Germans dominated their opponents almost at will.
