Basmanny market roof collapse

The Basmanny market hall (Russian Басманный рынок ) was a market hall near the Moscow Metro station Baumanskaya in Basmanny district (district center ). She had been built in 1977, with the participation of the civil engineer Nodar Kancheli.

In the early morning of February 23, 2006, the roof collapsed under the snow load. 66 people were killed. More than 500 rescue workers were in use The market hall was completely demolished after the collapse.
