Bass Lake is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Starke County, Indiana. According to the 2000 census, the town had 1249 inhabitants and an area of 29.2 km ², of which 5.5 km ² ( 18.95% ) of water. A post office was established in 1892. The name derives from a nearby lake which is populated by many bass.
