Bassianus (senator)
Bassianus († 314 or 316 ) was a sub- emperor of the Roman Emperor Constantine I.
The senator Bassianus was married to Anastasia since 313 or 314, a half-sister of Constantine. Designated to Caesar ( Under Emperor ) for Italy, Bassianus soon began to intrigue against his brother. Presumably he was instigated by his brother Senecio, a confidant of Ostkaisers Licinius. Constantine was Bassianus executed for high treason. His demand to extradite Senecio, refused Licinius, which led to a break between the two emperors, and subsequently to the Civil War.
