Bastian Knittel

Bastian Knittel ( born August 8, 1983 in Bad Cannstatt ) is a German tennis player.

Career

Living in Ditzingen Knittel plays in the second tennis league for the TC Radolfzell. In 2007 he participated at the French Open for the first time in the qualifying at a Grand Slam tournament, but he left in the first qualifying round. In 2010, he was able to achieve in each case the second qualifying round at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. In July 2010, Knittel qualified in Stuttgart for the first time for the main draw of an ATP tournament, but lost in the first round against Pablo Andújar.

Bastian Knittel's biggest success on the ATP Challenger Tour was the victory at the Heilbronn Open in January 2011. Moreover, he was able to win eight Futures tournaments in his career. His previous best world ranking in singles was ranked 157 on February 28, 2011.

His biggest success in an ATP tournament is the victory over Ivan Dodig favorites in July 2011 at a tournament at Hamburg Rothbaum. In 2013 he was able to first qualify for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. At Wimbledon, he reached the first round, left there but against Juan Mónaco smooth in three sets of. After the Heilbronn Open 2014 he finished his career.
