Bata is the capital of belonging to Equatorial Guinea mainland region Mbini and the province of Litoral.

Bata had in 2008 about 207 765 inhabitants and is the largest city in the country.

It lies on the Atlantic Ocean and features a marina with ferry service to Malabo and Douala, and an airport ( IATA code: BSG ).

The Estadio de Bata is the largest football stadium in the country and was one of the venues for the African Cup of Nations in 2012.
