Bathos

The bathos (Greek neuter βάθος, "depth" ) stands figuratively for lowliness and Sunken awareness. The term is particularly used in the literature.

In the literature, a bathos is the juxtaposition of a higher value to a lower one. It contributes to the voluntary or involuntary humor of a text or speech.
