Batiniyya

Batiniyya (Arabic: الباطنية / al - bāṭiniyya; " supporters of Batin ") is a Sunni writers such as the Persians al -Ghazali ( 1058-1111 ) used pejorative term used to describe those religious groups of Islam, which has an inner significance level ( batin ) in the Qur'an recognize - one containing the internal sense of truth ( I. Goldziher ). The most common grouping of Batiniyya form the Ismailis. In this use, the Batiniten by Sunni Muslims to reject the external level of Scripture ( Zahir ), rituals and rules, was accused (see Zahiriten ), although Fatimid Ismaili authors such as al - Kirmani (d. about 1020) and Nasir Chusrau (11. century) say the opposite. Another Sunni author, Ibn Taymiyya (1263-1328) united, under the term bāṭiniyya some Shiite groups, Sufis and philosophers such as Ibn Rushd / Averroes ( 1126-1198 ).
