Battle Chess

Battle Chess is a chess program for the first time in 1988, published in the U.S. game developer Interplay.

Game mechanics

The special feature of the program is the 3D animations. The beating of figures is represented by short animated game scenes in which the chess pieces fighting each other. The fighting, unlike the previously published Archon, which is only loosely based on chess, are not affected by the players. " Winner" is always the striking figure.

Successor

In 1991, Battle Chess was released for the PC. In the same year a sequel was released called Battle Chess II: Chinese Chess, based on Xiangqi, commonly known as " Chinese chess ". In the next year appeared Battle Chess 4000, whose animation science fiction films and television series parodying, such as a fight sequence that the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey includes. A similar game called Battle vs. Chess was developed by TopWare Interactive. Interplay won a copyright lawsuit, so the game could not be published in time. Battle vs..
