The Battle of Avignon was between 737 Frankish forces under the lead of Charles Martel and Arab forces.

The Arabs held since 734 the city of Avignon occupied. Martell sent 736 his brother Childebrand with an army south to besiege the city.

The battle was part of the campaign, 736-737, during which Charles Martel prevented the second time that attacking Muslim armies conquered more territories on this side of the Pyrenees. In contrast to the invasion of 732-733, the Arabs came, this time over the sea.

The Battle

Martell appeared 737 with reinforcement for his brother from the city.
