Battle of Bogesund

The Battle of Bogesund (also battle on the Åsunden ) was held on January 19, 1520 on the eve of the Swedish War of Liberation on the Åsunden about three kilometers south of the present Ulricehamn instead. The Swedish army under the Regent Sten Sture the Younger lost the battle against a Danish army under the leadership of Otte Krumpen. Sten Sture was severely wounded and died on February 3, 1520 from the effects of his injury.
