Battle of Brávellir

The Battle of Bravalla to have taken place in the middle of the 8th century on the plains of the Swedish province of Östergötland. The battle is mentioned in several Norse sagas as the Hervarar saga, in Gesta Saxo Grammaticus Danorum and on the Runestone Rök. Today's historians doubt, however, that the battle actually took place. In the various sagas there are also different details to the scene.

Harald Hildetand was king of the Danes and Svea, but could only take care of the areas Denmark and Östergötland. Therefore, he used the Under King Sigurt ring Västergötland and Svealand guarded.
