Battle of Britain Memorial, Capel-le-Ferne

The Battle of Britain Memorial is a monument to the British aircrews who participated in the Battle of Britain. It is located in the county of Kent on the White Cliffs of Dover at Capel- le -Ferne, about 500 m from the sea. The monument has seen from the air in the form of a three -bladed propeller with a diameter of about 80 m. On the propeller hub is the body set up by Harry Gray stone statue of a seated pilot. To the west are the replicas of two fighter aircraft, a Hawker Hurricane and a Supermarine Spitfire and the Christopher Foxley - Norris Memorial Wall where the names of all those (nearly 3000) are listed, who took part in the Battle of Britain

The Battle of Britain Memorial was inspired by the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, founded for that purpose by former RAF pilot Geoffrey Page and opened on 9 July 1993 by the Queen Mother .. On the 70th anniversary of the start of the Battle of 2010 was a bust of air Marshal Keith Park unveiled by the Duchess of Cornwall.
