Battle of Colberger Heide

The Battle of Kolberg on the heath was held on July 1, 1644. In the course of Torstenssonkrieges ( an argument in the context of the Thirty Years' War ) fought on the heath Kolberger a Swedish and a Danish fleet for supremacy in the western Baltic Sea area. ( The Sands of Kolberger Heath, formerly located at the Schonberger provost coast was washed away in the storm surge on February 10, 1625 and had settled in front of Laboe, and the name stuck for a coast near sea area above.) The two fleets, with 40 and 34 ships, met north of Fehmarn and then moved to the Kiel Fjord, where the battle took place. The Danish kingdom Admiral Jørgen Vind and King Christian IV were severely wounded in the battle ( Vind succumbed to his injuries a few days later in Copenhagen), but the Danes were able to assert themselves and prevent a Swedish landing.

The event was handled literary later in the Danish royal anthem Kong Kristian stod ved Højen mast.
