Battle of Schooneveld#Second battle

In the Second Battle of Schooneveld, the third battle of the Third English- Dutch War, met on 4 Junijul. / June 14 1673greg. the fleet of the United Provinces of the Netherlands back on the combined fleets of England and the Kingdom of France. The battle took place in the North Sea off the Scheldt estuary.

The Battle

A week before, had already fought in the First Battle of Schooneveld against each other both fleets. During the Anglo- French fleet was cruising off the Dutch, hoping to elicit their opponents from the shallow coastal waters, the Dutch were able to amplify.

Taking advantage of a favorable wind attacked the Dutch in the Anglo- French fleet. This tried to dodge and their lines were once again in great disorder. Only between the Dutch and the English vanguard rearguard battle took place, which lasted until the English coast was reached. There, the Anglo- French fleet was able to save in the Thames in the morning of June 15.

Due to the success in both battles, it was the Dutch managed to avert an imminent invasion from the sea. In the Battle of Texel before both parties came together again.
