Battleship (puzzle)

Bimaru ( partially listed as Solitaire Battleships or Battleship Solitaire ) is a logic puzzle game that's built to sink ships in the game, but played alone.

The aim of the puzzle is to find in a game the hidden ships. Technically, it is at Bimaru a simple form of Nonogrammen. The game now exists as an online version and is printed daily in various newspapers.

The rules

  • The number at the end of each row or column indicates how many spaces are occupied by ships.
  • Vessels may not touch, neither horizontally or vertically, even diagonally. This means that each ship must be completely surrounded by water (or edge ).

History

Bimaru was invented in 1982 in Argentina under the name Batalla Naval, and appeared in the same year was first printed in the Argentine magazine " Humor & Juegos ". After a break of five years, the game "Para Gente De Mente Juegos ", the successor publication of " Humor & Juegos " was published in the magazine. The editors publish Bimarus since monthly magazine " Enigma Lógicos ". The international breakthrough came in the game under the name " Battleship " in 1992 at the first World Puzzle Championships in New York. Since then, several variants have been developed, such as hexagonal, diagonal and three-dimensional versions. The name Bimaru first emerged in 2006 through the publication of " Pocket Bimaru " the mystery Agency Switzerland.

Designation

The name Bimaru is an officially registered trademark of Mystery Agency Switzerland. The neologism of the Zurich graphic designer Stefan Haller should onomatopoeic based on the world-famous sudoku and awaken with the letters " mar" associations for shipping without " sinking ships" by the keyword to topple into the Warlike. In other countries the game as Battleship Solitaire, Solitaire Naval Puzzle, Solitaire Battleships, Yubotu or Batoru is called.
