Bavarian D V

The ten steam locomotives of Class DV of the Bavarian State Railways were the first six-coupled tank locomotives in Bavaria. They were designed specifically for use on the steep section between Plattling and Eisenstein. Since the locomotives did not provide the power that had been hoped for from her, they were soon to be used only for shunting.

However, all ten machines came to the railroad where they were classified as Class 89.81 in the numbering plan. But but they were replaced 3/3 of the eingruppierten as the class 89.6 R Bavarian soon. The phase-out began in 1925, when the last 89 8106 and 89 8107 were retired in 1928.
