139 specimens procured the State Railway 1895-1912; it was the most numerous Bavarian local railway locomotive type. Both Krauss Maffei and delivered three prototypes and were later involved in the series production.

Eight locomotives of the same type delivered by Krauss in 1900 to the LAG, which later sold the locomotives of the Bavarian State Railways, where they were queued with the track numbers from 2507 to 2512. A further three locomotives were supplied by Krauss to the AG Süddeutsche electrical Lokalbahnen, which was acquired in 1904 by the LAG, which in turn sold the locomotives at the National Railway. They got there the numbers 2764-2764. The machines were designated according to the new naming scheme as PtL 3/4, but did not differ significantly from the newer engines of Class D XI. Another five PtL 3/4 procured the state railway in 1914 and gave them the numbers from 2783 to 2787.

4.II three of these locomotives were also procured for the Pfalzbahn as a generic T, but they had other dimensions, including a smaller traction and impeller diameter.
