Bavarian State Orchestra

The Bavarian State Orchestra is the orchestra of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and one of the oldest and most prestigious orchestras in the world. It is one of the best German orchestras. Besides his work as an opera orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra is another major focus in the field of classical music, especially the symphonies.

History

The roots of the orchestra go back to the year 1523, when Ludwig Senfl became head of the Munich choir. From 1563 onwards, Orlando di Lasso was hired as director of the Munich Court Orchestra. Over 100 years, the repertoire consisted mainly of church music, but from 1651 found in Munich also regular opera performances take place, initially in a converted corn exchange, from 1653, at the Munich Residenz. As of 1762, the orchestra led the Court Orchestra name, since the abolition of the monarchy in Bavaria in 1918, it reflects the new name.

With many internationally renowned conductors State Orchestra had close relations, including Zubin Mehta, but most closely with Carlos Kleiber. Its comparatively frequent conductorships 1968-1997 were many critics and fans as a star Hours.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Academy of Music, the self-managed concert sound body within the State Orchestra, founded in 2011 from its ranks the " Chamber Orchestra of the Bavarian State Orchestra ."

The Bavarian State Orchestra had an untroubled relationship with Carlos Kleiber, who worked at the Staatsoper long. The Bavarian State Orchestra was allowed to deny a tour of Japan with him, which was a great success. Nowhere Kleiber felt so at home as the Bavarian State Orchestra. This is also proved his legendary opera performances. Kleiber was 1968-1988 regular guest conductor at the Bavarian State Opera.
