Bawku

Bawku is a place in the Upper East Region in the West African nation of Ghana. It is the capital of the district of Bawku East.

At the last census in Ghana on March 26, 2000 51.379 people lived in the city. This Bakwu was greater than Bolgatanga, the capital of the Upper East Region. Extrapolations of January 1, 2007, there were a total population of 59,055 people. This Bawku is ranked 19 of the largest cities of Ghana.

Located in Bawku Presbyterian Hospital has 256 beds out and used because of its location near the border with Burkina Faso and Togo also for the neighboring countries as an important health center.
