Bay Pines is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Pinellas County in the U.S. state of Florida with 2,931 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Bay Pines is bordered by the cities of Saint Petersburg, Madeira Beach, Seminole, and faces the Gulf of Mexico. The CDP is located approximately 15 km south of Clearwater and 30 km west of Tampa. He is from U.S. Highway 19 (SR 595 ) and Florida State Road 666 crosses.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 2,931 inhabitants distributed to 1,638 households. The population density was 814.2 inh. / Km ². 93.9 % of the population were white, 2.6% African American, 0.1% Native American and 0.8 % Asian Americans. 1.2% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.4% in different ethnic groups. 3.5% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 41.5 % of all households lived in 17.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 54.4 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.02 persons and the average family size is 2.63 people.

15.0 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 14.7% were 20-39 years old, 34.3% were 40-59 years old and 36.2% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 53 years. 51.7 % of the population were male and 48.3 % female.

The average annual income was $ 43,603, while 9.1% of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 96.95 % of the population spoke Spanish and 3.05%.
