Bayano Kamani

Bayano Kamani ( born April 17, 1980 in Houston, United States) is a Panamanian athlete who finished fifth in the 400 - meter hurdles at the 2004 Olympic Games.

Kamanis father came from Panama, his mother from Barbados. Kamani first came to the United States in 2003, he assumed the nationality of his father. As a student of Baylor University, he won in 1999 and 2001 at the NCAA Championships students, at the Universiade in 1999, he finished in 48.74 seconds for the USA in second place behind Poland's Paweł Januszewski.

In his first major championship in Panama jersey he won the 2003 South American Championship in Barquisimeto. The following year, he improved his personal best and the Panamanian national record at 48.23 seconds, in the finals of the Olympic Games, he finished in 48.74 seconds for fifth place. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005, he won his semi-final in 47.84 seconds, the fastest time of his career. In the final he came out of step and finished in 50.18 seconds to seventh place. In 2006 he won the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 49.44 seconds. In 2007 he occupied at the Pan American Games in 48.70 seconds in second place behind the Canadians Adam Kunkel. At the 2007 World Championships Kamani was eliminated in the semifinals, just like a year later at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

At a height of 1.88 m his competition weight is 79 kg.
