Bayelsa United F.C.

Bayelsa United is a Nigerian football club based in Yenagoa. Play their home games, the club either in Yenagoa Township Stadium. So far, Bayelsa United won the Nigerian Premier League once.

History

The club was founded in 2000. Already in the following year, the club won the regional trophy. In the final they beat FC Admiralty Bayelsa 2-0. For the 2003 season the team was second-rate. In Group B, the Professional Division One team finished third and missed so narrowly the rise. The following year, under a new mode, it was only enough for tenth. For season 2005 handed second place behind Ocean Boys to be top notch.

Bayelsa 2006 was drawn against the group A. Relegation was assured by reaching the fifth place. The following season the same placement in group B. After the successful league mode European conditions was adjusted in the summer of 2007, the club now playing in a single-track league that lasts from September 2007 to May 2008. Here they finished with 63 points in the final table second in the standings, just one point less than Master Kano Pillars. 2008/ 09 the team earned 70 points and, after the end of the season to celebrate their first championship.

A season after their first league title occupied Bayelsa United, only the 18th place in the Nigerian Premier League and put up at the Nigeria National League.
