History

Neptunas was founded in 1962 under the name "BC Maistas ". Two years later the name of the club was changed in Neptunas. While Lithuania was part of the Soviet Union, took the club participates in various regional competitions, but never played high class. In the 1980s Neptunas belonged to the highest Lithuanian Regional. After the independence of Lithuania Neptunas was among the first eight clubs who founded the highest Lithuanian league. The highest success in the 1990s was the quarter-finals of the Lithuanian Championship, the Neptunas reached eight times in a row from 1996 to 2003. In the 1998/99 season Neptunas launched for the first time in a European Cup, the Korac Cup. Between 2004 and 2012 Neptunas played several seasons in the Baltic Basketball League. In the 2012/13 season Neptunas was included in the VTB United League. A year later the debut followed in ULEB Eurocup.
