The Bdellovibrionales are an order of bacteria within the class of Deltaproteobacteria. To this order belong also predatory bacteria. Some species can attach to other bacteria and penetrate them. The prefix Bdello - is Greek and means " leech ".

The type Vampirovibrio affects the alga Chlorella. Bdellovibrio, Bacteriovorax and Micavibrio attack other bacteria. Bdellovibrio penetrates here into the periplasmic space of the host cell and eating the cytoplasm. Within the host cell, Bdellovibrio propagated by cell divisions. After the cytoplasm is used up, the cell wall of the host cell is dissolved and the daughter cells reach the outside.
