Beamer (LaTeX)

Beamer is a class of typesetting program LaTeX, can be created with the presentations. Beamer was developed by Till Tantau and first published in 2003 at the CTAN network. Since April 2010, the package of Vedran Miletic is maintained. Furthermore, Joseph Wright provided input to the project. The name of the class is derived from the popular German Scheinanglizismus for a video projector, which is used for giving a presentation.

Properties

Beamer provides the user with access to the typesetting of LaTeX options available that are also available for creating documents for printing. This is particularly true for the structuring and the set of formulas capabilities of LaTeX. The overall presentation structure can be presented in philosophical progress icons. Formulas can be embedded directly into the presentation.

The basic setup of the projector automatically provide a clear layout. For visual design, there are several presentations, which also modifications and custom developments are possible.

Of the ways to create presentations with LaTeX currently available to Beamer has prevailed most. In addition, there are particular packages powerdot and Prosper.

Ready beamer presentations are available as PDF. For presenting the full screen mode is used, which is present in many PDF readers. This allows the presentation to be used across platforms.

Due to the abstracted source code form, it is possible, from the same LaTeX source to produce a handout with a few changes or modify the basic layout.

Examples

An example of the beamer class:
