Beat Breu

Beat Breu ( born October 23, 1957 in St. Gallen, Switzerland ) is a former Swiss professional cyclists and Radquerfahrer.

Cycling career

Beat Breu's professional career began in the 1970s, first in the promise of cross- port. He then moved to the street, was the Radquer but true. Breu is one of the most successful cyclists of Switzerland. He won in 1981 and 1989, the Tour de Suisse, 1981, the Championship of Zurich and at the Tour de France in 1982 two mountain stages, including those on the legendary L' Alpe d' Huez, and the third in the Mountains classification. He received it the nickname "Mountain Flea ". Breu went for the former team Cilo. In 1995, he announced his retirement from cycling.

For his participation in the Tour de Suisse 1979 Breu was disqualified for doping.

On 17 July 2007 Beat Breu was 49 years with a comeback as a stayer on the open track in Zurich Oerlikon. At the first race he lost to the winner of two rounds, the second race (20 km 71 km / h), there were three. It reached number five out of six participants. He has prepared with 4,000 miles and ten training at the racetrack this comeback.

When he won the Zurich Six Days sensational on 1 January 2008, the 6th stage of the Stayers race and celebrated his first victory since the comeback.

On October 14, 2007 Breu launched at the international cyclocross in Fehraltorf with a special permit in the A-Class and named as a target a top 10 placement. He was, however, only third- last and demoted to the B-Class. After two unsuccessful seasons, he announced in November 2009 its final withdrawal from the sport of cycling.

Withdrawal and Private

1995 declared Breu his first resignation. After several years as assistant organizer of bicycle and Radquerrennen he turned, by profession actually postal employees, from cycling completely and tried more bad than good as a comedian, presenter, leader of a "Wild West brothel " as well as truck spare parts dealer. In 2003 he suffered a stroke, 2004, he had surgery on the heart. For years he suffered from severe depression. Caused a stir in Switzerland its short-term marriage of a few months in 2009.
