Beat Sutter

Beat Sutter ( born December 12, 1962 in Gelterkinden ) is a former Swiss football and national team players. A trained mechanic now lives in Zurich and works as a sales representative at Swisslos.

Beat ( called " Bitsch ") Sutter grew up in Gelterkinden and began his football career at the age of eight years at FC Gelterkinden. In 1976 he was awarded a squad for the junior national team of North -Western Switzerland and became Swiss champion of regional selections. He became the junior national team. At the age of 17, he was a key figure and scored many goals, as the first team of FC Gelterkinden 3 Regional League champion (1980).

FC Basel Sutter recruited in the spring of 1981, under coach Benthaus he became a regular player. 1982 reached the FCB Cup final against FC Sion. In the final quarter of an hour Sion took a free kick. With a targeted punch of Sion player Alain -Emile Balet the Basel " Bitsch " Sutter felled and then scored a goal. Quote Sutter: " The punch I had felt hard, Balet has good getrofen. I was unconscious for a while and had not noticed at first that the goal has been scored. "

In Basel, Sutter played until 1986 and then moved to Neuchâtel Xamax. In Xamax he had great success, and in 1987 and 1988 Swiss Champion twice. This remained the only title in his football career. Swiss Cup Winner Sutter was never. He was at least twice the finals ( with Basel defeats against Sion and with Xamax 1-2 against Grasshopper Club Zurich 1990).

In 1994 he moved to Yverdon -Sport FC in the National League B in 1995 for FC St. Gallen. To the End of career in 1996, he returned back to Yverdon.

His first national game he played in September 1983 in Neuchâtel against Czechoslovakia. In his third appearance for the national team, he scored his first international goal ( against Yugoslavia ).
