Beat Zberg

Beat Zberg ( born May 10, 1971 in Altdorf, Switzerland ) is a retired Swiss cyclist.

Career

The 1,79 m tall and 72 kg Zberg 1991 pro. He is the older brother of Markus Zberg; both drove together with the team Gerolsteiner. Beat 1996 won the race Around the Henninger Tower and could stage wins at the Vuelta a España ( 2001), the Basque Country Tour (2002, 2004) and in the Catalan Week ( 2003) celebrate. At the Tour de France he already started eight times. In the Tour de Suisse, he could go out in 2005 to seventh place in the overall standings. In 2007 Zberg was Swiss champion for the first time. On July 1, he won solo in Brugg, 2 minutes before the next pursuers. At the same time he also announced that he would quit the end of 2007 his long career. In August 2007 Zberg won then the first stage of the Tour de l' Ain and remained to the last stage leader before him John Gadret dethroned.

Beat Zberg is the brother of the equally successful cyclist Luzia Zberg and Markus Zberg.

Today Zberg has been with the IMG as route coordinator for the Tour de Suisse.
