Beatlemania

As Beatlemania (English, translated, Beatle mania ') is called the global euphoria about the British band The Beatles. When beginning October 13, 1963 is generally given. On this day the Beatles appeared in the TV show Val Parnell 's Sunday Night at the London Palladium. During the first U.S. tour the band in 1964, Beatlemania was at its peak and leveled off until the dissolution of the band in 1970 on, however, was never completely broken.

Origin

The term Beatlemania was invented by the press, probably an allusion to the Lisztomania with regard to the composers and musicians Franz Liszt in the 19th century. After the spread of this expression the word -forming element -mania was often used for other euphoria to music groups, such as the Roller Mania at the Bay City Rollers and the Spice Mania at the Spice Girls.
