Beatrice Faumuina

Beatrice Faumuina ( Beatrice Roini Liua Faumuina; born October 23, 1974 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand discus thrower.

The Fifth World Junior Championships 1992 won at the Commonwealth Games in 1994 in Victoria silver. She went on at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 and at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, but failed each in qualifying.

The following year she achieved her greatest success with winning the title at the World Championships in Athens. Also the gold medal she won at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. At the World Cup in 1999 in Seville, she was fifth and at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Twelfth.

At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester she defended her title. This was followed by a 13th place finish at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint -Denis, a seventh at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and in each case a fourth place at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki and the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka and at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 she left in qualifying. In 2010 she finished fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Beatrice Faumuina is 1,85 m tall and weighs 125 kg. In 2005 she was awarded the Order of Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit. In the same year she became Goodwill Ambassador of the FAO.
