Beatrice of Burgundy, Lady of Bourbon

Beatrix of Burgundy (French Beatrice de Bourgogne; * 1257 or 1258; † October 1, 1310 at Castle Murat ), also called Beatrice of Bourbon, was Lady of Bourbon and Countess of Charolais. She was the daughter and heiress of John of Burgundy from the Elder House of Burgundy, a son of the Duke Hugo IV, and Agnes de Bourbon, Lady of Bourbon.

She married in 1276 in Clermont -en- Beauvaisis Robert de Clermont, Count of Clermont -en- Beauvaisis, a son of the French king Saint Louis. From the union six children were born:

  • Louis the Lame (French: Louis I. le Boiteux ) (* 1279, † 1342 ), since 1327 Duke of Bourbon, Count of Clermont -en- Beauvaisis and Count of La Marche
  • Blanche (* 1281, † 1304) ∞ 1303 Robert VII, Count of Auvergne and Boulogne
  • Jean ( * 1283, † 1322), Lord of Charolais, ∞ 1309 Jeanne de Dargies, dame de Dargies et de Catheux
  • Marie ( * 1284/85, † 1372 ), prioress in Poissy
  • Pierre ( * 1287, † nach1330 ), archdeacon in Paris
  • Marguerite (* 1289 † 1309), ∞ 1307 John I, Marquis of Namur

From her grandfather väterlicherseites she inherited at his death in 1272 the Kastellaneien Sauvigne, Doudain, Charolles, Mont -Saint -Vincent and Sauvement. Her uncle, Duke Robert II of Burgundy, deprived her the rights to it, she had her but in April 1277 and August 1279 return. After her mother's death she inherited from her also acquired the rights to the Seigneurie Bourbon.

Beatrix died on 1 October 1310 and was buried at Couvent des Cordeliers de Champaigue at Souvigny.
