Beatrix Loughran

Beatrix Loughran Suzetta (* June 30, 1900 in Mount Vernon, New York, † December 7, 1975 in Long Beach, New York ) was an American figure skater who started in a single run and pair skating.

In a single run was from 1925 to 1927 U.S. champion, after it had already become 1922 and 1923 runner-up behind Theresa Weld Blanchard. She participated in a single run in only one World Cup, namely in 1924 in Oslo, where she behind Herma Szabo and Ellen Brockhöft won the bronze medal. For this, they played two Olympic Games and won both a medal. 1924 in Chamonix, she won entirely surprising silver behind Herma Szabo, although actually her compatriot Weld Blanchard had been favored, and in 1928 in St. Moritz Bronze behind Sonja Henie and Fritzi Burger.

In pair skating Loughran won by the side of Sherwin Badger the U.S. championship titles from 1930 to 1932 with him. They played three World Cups. In 1928 she finished fifth and in 1930 and 1932, she won the bronze medal. She also participated in two Olympic Games. 1928 in St. Moritz, they were placed in fourth and 1932 in Lake Placid home they were Olympic silver medalist behind the French Andrée and Pierre Brunet. Loughran thus is the only American woman to have won three Olympic medals in figure skating.
