Beats International

Beats International was a British musical project. It was launched in Brighton by the musician Norman Cook and singer Lindy Layton 1989.

Cook formed the band a year after the breakup of the band The Housemartins. With the first single Dub Be Good to Me, a dub- reggae cover version of the hit Just Be Good To Me SOS Band from 1984, Beats International's beginning in March 1990 No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart and stayed there for four weeks. In the German single charts made ​​it the song to # 4 The sample is originally by The Clash ( " Guns of Brixton ").

The follow-up single Will not Talk About It, Cook had originally recorded with Billy Bragg, reached the top ten in the UK. With four more singles, the band could not repeat those successes.

1991 Cook broke the band back on and turned to his new project, Freak Power. His biggest solo success was Norman Cook later under the name Fatboy Slim.
