Beaucroissant

Beaucroissant is a commune with 1497 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Isère, in the Rhône -Alpes. Residents will Manants called Manantes. The population increased from 627 (1793) to today's news.

An attraction of the village is the Priory of Notre- Dame de Parménie (Our Lady of Parménie ), a Carthusian convent from the 13th century. It burned in the 15th century onwards and was rebuilt in the 17th century, in 1944 it was again destroyed and then restored.

Foire de Beaucroissant

The place is famous for the Foire de Beaucroissant ( agricultural fair of Beaucroissant ), which is mentioned in the chronicles since 1219. It is held annually on the last weekend of April and the second week of September, with up to 1,800 exhibitors and over 800,000 visitors are counted. On a 30 ha site are agricultural products, a Nutzviehschau and an amusement park for younger visitors to find. The pilgrimage to Notre -Dame de Parménie since the year 1220, the reason for the great importance of the fair. It is the quintessential source of income of the municipality.
